Seorang pesepakbola asal Malaysia, Safee Sali, menyindir perkembangan sepak bola di Indonesia.
Hal ini bermula saat dirinya angkat bicara soal fenomena naruralisasi.
Hingga saat ini, proses pengambilan pemain berkewarganegaraan asing itu memang marak terjadi di Asia Tenggara.
Safee sendiri angkat bicara karena Malaysia juga mulai melakukan naturalisasi beberapa waktu terakhir.
Hal itu dibuktikan dengan pernyataan pelatih Malaysia, Tan Cheng Hoe.
Dirinya menyebut akan memanfaatkan 14 pemain naturalisasi di timnas Malaysia.
Padahal, Malaysia sudah melarang tim nasionalnya untuk diisi pemain naturalisasi beberapa tahun yang lalu.
Kondisi ini membuat Safee Sali resah.
Dia menganggap tak sedikit pemain naturalisasi yang kualitasnya sama dengan pemain lokal.
Bahkan, ada juga yang malah lebih buruk.
Tribunstyle melansir dari Bolasport.com, "Pesepak bola itu tak harus pemain keturunan, tapi kemampuan dan kekuatan yang lebih utama," kata Safee.
"Menurut saya, hanya dua-tiga pemain naturalisasi yang terlihat memiliki kualitas lebih baik dibanding pemain lokal, yang lain saya pikir sama saja," imbuhnya.
Mantan penyerang Arema dan Pelita Jaya itu meminta negaranya untuk berkaca pada negara tetangga, yakni Thailand, Indonesia, dan Singapura.
Menurutnya, Indonesia dan Singapura masih belum berkembang walaupun sudah memakai jasa pemain naturalisasi.
"Kita lihat, Indonesia dan Singapura yang memiliki pemain naturalisasi tapi belum bisa berkembang lebih jauh. Sementara Thailand yang menggunakan pemain lokal justru lebih bagus," kata Safee.
Saat ini, tim Malaysia sendiri sudah diperkuat oleh lima pemain naturalisasi.
Mereka adalah Matthew Davies, Darren Lok, Brendan Gan, Kiko Insa, serta Khair Jones.
